In a compelling match during the 6th Belbari International Invitational Gold Cup held in Belbari, Birtamod Youth Club Jhapa has successfully secured a spot in the semi-finals. Their journey to this stage was highlighted by a remarkable 2-1 victory over the league champions, Church Boys United.
Although Church Boys initially took the lead in the game, they ultimately faced defeat. The league-winning Church Boys, who had a promising first half, faltered in the second half, resulting in their early exit from the competition. In the 34th minute, Lakshu regained the lead with a well-executed goal, capitalizing on a pass from Milan Rai. Virtamod's Vishal Basnet, the team's captain, made a significant impact in the 52nd minute of the second half, leveling the game with a splendid goal, assisted by Asish Chapagai.
The momentum shifted decisively towards Jhapa, who mounted relentless pressure in the second half, leading to their second goal in the 58th minute. Khmir Gilson extended the lead by converting a pass from Ashis Chapagai.
Khmir Gilson of Virtamod Youth Club Jhapa was rightfully named the Man of the Match and was awarded a prize of NPR 5,000.
