News Mahila Premier League In 2nd Week

Four games were played in week two of the Mahila Premier League II (MPLII), Kathmandu’s first women’s futsal League, with 25 goals scored.

A total of more than 100 goals have already been scored in MPL Season II. Futsal Arena and Pasang College are still tied on top of the League table with nine points each after their respective wins against Barca Nepal and FC S YES.

“I am happy that we won yet another game however, I think we can do better than this and improve on our individual skills,” says Jharana Rai, captain of team Pasang College right after their victory. This week, tight matchups kept
spectators on their toes.

Manisha Thapa Magar from Futsal Arena kept things extra exciting by scoring a hat trick and then some in the first match of the day.

At the end of the second week, Kumari Futsal made a comeback climbing a step up to third position with their win against MUFC Nepal Girls, who have fallen to sixth position with 4 points. “Although we lost a match, I am glad that my team showed great teamwork on the field; we can and will do better”, Pratigya Joshi of MUFC Nepal expressed.

Team Mighty Mahilas took the fourth position with their 4-0 win against NMB Bank. Despite their well-timed tackles
and diligent defense in the first half of their game, FC S YES lost against Pasang College dropping to seventh position.

“Today we lacked teamwork, we are surely going to work on our team combination for upcoming weeks,” says Anjana Majhi captain of FC S YES.

The second week of MPLII saw exceptional sportswomanship and celebrations along with many unexpected shifts in the League table. Players and spectators are riled up for the upcoming week.

With five more weeks still to go, competition is rising and players are rediscovering the importance of teamwork.
