Damak Football Academy, Jhapa, became the last team to enter the semi-finals of the Kummayak Trishali Invitational Gold Cup held in Kummayak Rural Municipality of Panchthar.
Towards the fourth quarter-final, Damak defeated Dangihat Youth Club, Morang in sudden death and entered the last four. Before that, both teams played an exciting 1-1 draw in the regular time match.
In the 27th minute of the match, Sunil Khadka scored a goal for Dangihat to take the lead. However, when Bishal Bhandari of Dangihat scored an own goal at the beginning of the second half, the game was tied at 1-1.
The match was pushed to a tiebreaker as the result could not be reached within the stipulated time. Even in the tiebreaker, the result could not come out. Then in sudden death, Damak FA won 5-4 over Dangihat and secured the semi-final spot. Damak Football Academy's goalkeeper Chari Limbu was declared the man of the match.
According to the organizers, the winner of the competition organized by Yalambar Yuva Club, Panchthar will receive 3 lakh 55 thousand 555 rupees in cash and the runner-up team will get 1 lakh 77 thousand 777 rupees in cash. The final match will be held on the 23rd of Baisakh.
