Pokhara (GoalNepal) - Sankata Club have qualified for the semifinals of the 22nd edition of the Aaha! Rara Pokhara Gold Cup 2023. Sankata Club defeated Tribhuwan Army FC 3-1 to enter the final four of the tournament.
Sankata, the champions of the 20th edition, will face defending champions APF in the semifinals on Wednesday.
Sankata fielded their six new signings for the first time today. But they didn't have a good start. Army were awarded a penalty in the 16th minute of the match which was converted by Nawayug Shrestha to give Army the lead.
But Sankata equalized in the 36th minute. Messouke Oloumou equalized for Sankata off a Sunil Bal assist. The first half ended 1-1.
New signing Suraj Jeu Thakuri gave Sankata the lead of the match in the 74th minute. Stephane Binong rounded off the win for Sankata in injury time.
Manang Marshyangdi Club and BYSC, Minnesota, USA will face each other in the final quarterfinal of the tournament tomorrow.
The winners of this tournament edition will receive 12 lakh rupees while the runners-up will receive six lakh rupees.
