Kathmandu (GoalNepal) - Korea Republic and Uruguay have shared spoils in a group H encounter to open their proceedings at the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Son-Heung Min, the captain of South Korea, was forced to play with a face mask after breaking his eye socket earlier this month, but the Tottenham Hotspur forward was unable to make much of an impression.

For the first time in a World Cup game this century, neither team had a shot on target during the match.

In the 34th minute, Hwang Ui-Jo had a golden chance to give South Korea the lead but skied over from close range off right-back Kim Moon-low Hwan's cross. In the 43rd minute, a header from Godin off of a corner from Valverde nearly made Korea regret.

Uruguay was unable to make a breakthrough as Darwin Nunez curled a chance wide in the 81st minute and Valverde unleashed a hissing drive from distance in the 90th minute that cannoned off the post. Neither side could find a goal as the game finished 0-0.
