News Kazi Md. Salahuddin Re-Elected As SAFF President

Kazi Md. Salahuddin was unanimously re-elected at the Congress as the president of the South Asian Football Federation. The Intercontinental Hotel in Dhaka hosted the Ordinary Congress 2022 of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) where Kazi was re-elected as the president of the region.

Salahuddin will serve as President through 2026 thanks to his reelection. In addition, Mr. Ugyen Wangchuk, General Secretary of the Bhutan Football Federation, was re-elected by the Congress as a member of the SAFF Executive Committee until 2026, and Jaswar Umar, President of the Sri Lanka Football Federation, was elected to serve as a representative of SAFF on the AFC Executive Committee. Up until 2023, Mr. Umar will serve as SAFF's representative on the AFC Executive Committee. For the positions, neither candidate faced opposition.

The SAFF Electoral Committee has announced that there are four open positions, including two Vice Presidents, one male and one female representative on the Executive Committee, all of which will be decided upon during the 2023 Congress.

After being re-elected as President, Mr. Salahuddin thanked all the Member Associations for their confidence in him and urged everyone to work together as a family to improve football in the region.

"We are not the world's best footballing region, but we must work together as a family and as brothers to improve the game in the area". Kazi said. "We only had the SAFF Men's Championship when I was elected president in 2009, but as of right now, we have held 27 competitions. This demonstrates how far we've come since the beginning."
