News Suspended Ganesh Thapa Returns To Sports Field; Spits Venom Over Karma Tsering Sherpa
GoalNepal

Ganesh Thapa was banned for 10 years by Fifa for bribery on November 16, 2015.

Thapa, in the context of the 2009 and 2011 elections at the Asian Football Confederation congress, was accused by Fifa of "committing various acts of misconduct ...including the solicitation and acceptance of cash payments from another football official, for both personal and family gain".

In Nepal, not a single government agency could touch him. Then Public accounts committee had confirmed that Thapa had embezzled Rs 58 Crore at ANFA and had written to Sports Ministry and National Sports Council to take action against him but nothing happened.

Even Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) put the case on hold citing lack of evidence. Former Chief Commissioner, Lokman Singh Karki, who is a relative of Mr. Thapa, was the chief of CIAA then.

Instead, Thapa became the member of Constituent assembly, thanks to his politician brother, Kamal Thapa.

His party RPP Nepal suffered heavy defeat in the recently held election. Party could win just a seat and couldn't become the national party.

Now, suspended Thapa has returned to Nepalese sports, once again.

On Monday, he organized a press meet to launch his new sports organization called "Nepal Sports Organization".

He said his new organization would work for "individual games".

He also took an opportunity to talk about Nepalese football.

FIFA says Thapa's ban will cover all football activities at both national and international level.

However, Thapa didn't care about the ban imposed by FIFA.

He spitted venom on ANFA president candidate Karma Tsering Sherpa. Sherpa is a stubborn football administrator who fought hard to topple disgraced Thapa from the post.

"Karma (Tsering Sherpa) is not right person to lead Nepalese football. He would make ANFA a party wing. I can't just sit seeing all these things", accused Thapa.

His brother in law, Mani Kunwar is vying against Karma Tsering Sherpa for the post.

He also accepted that he was lobbying political leaders on behalf of Mani Kunwar.

It is interesting to see how AFC and FIFA will react with the latest moves from suspended Thapa.
