News Bara: 4th International Veteran Football Tournament to Kick Off On Ashoj 1

The 4th edition of the International Veteran Football Tournament is set to take place in the first week of Ashoj. The tournament, organized by Simra Veteran Club, will commence on Ashoj 1st and run until Ashoj 5th.

The competition promises an unprecedented cash prize of 300,000 rupees for the winner, the highest ever awarded in veteran football tournaments nationwide so far. The runner-up will receive 150,000 rupees. This year's prize fund marks a significant increase from last year's figures, where the winner received 200,000 rupees and the runner-up received 100,000 rupees.

Rajkumar Raut, President of the organizing club, highlighted the tournament's record-breaking cash prizes during a press conference at Hotel Simra Paradise in Simra. Raut announced that 12 teams from both Nepal and India will compete, including Unity Club Birgunj, Hetaunda Veteran Club, Chitwan Veteran Football Club, Saraswati Nagar Veteran Kathmandu, Our Dharan Football Club, Katari Tiger Veteran Club, Pokhara Veteran Club, Real Friends Veteran Sikkim, Legends Veteran Darjeeling, Clive House Veteran Calcutta, and the host club, Simra Veterans.

The tournament, to be held at Simra Stadium, will be sponsored by Hulas Steels, with additional support from Jeetpursimra Sub-Metropolitan City. Co-sponsors include Jagdamba Steels, Nepal Lube Oil, Navil Bank Simra, Prabhu Bank Simra, and UR Gold Premium Masala. Evergreen Tarai Hospital, LS Neuro, and Susapta Medical are the medical partners, while Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance will handle insurance coverage. Notable figures from the organizing committee, including Hari Chaudhary, Binod Pariyar, and Raju Adhikari, were present at the press conference.

The Simra Veteran Football Tournament has a history of competitive spirit, with past winners including Nawalparasi Veteran in the inaugural edition, Morang Veteran in the second, and Freedom Fighter Kathmandu in the third.
