In the prestigious 133rd Durand Cup International Invitational Football Tournament in India, the Indian Army including Nepalese players has started victoriously.

In their first match of Group D on Wednesday, Indian Army got off to a winning start with a 1-0 victory over Indian Super League club Chennaiyin FC.

In the match in Jamshedpur, the only goal scored by Liton Shill became the deciding goal for the Indian Army. Former Nepalese youth and A division players Alan Thapa, Bikas Thapa and others also played in the Indian Army team, which was captained by Nepal's experienced goalkeeper Bhavindra Malla, who is working in the Indian Army.

Similarly, Jamshedpur FC beat Assam Rifles 2-0 in another match in Indian Army's group. Indian Army will play their next match against Assam Rifles on August 7. On the other hand, Chennaiyin will face Jamshedpur on August 4.

Tribhuvan Army Football Club from Nepal also participated in the competition. Army, who are in Group F, will start the tournament on August 2 against home team Shillong Lajong.
