Anjila Tumbapo Subba, captain of the Nepali national women's football team, expressed unwavering confidence in her team's chances of winning the SAFF Women's Championship final against Bangladesh.
Speaking at a pre-match conference on Tuesday, she emphasized the importance of seizing this opportunity.
"We must win tomorrow; if we don’t, it could take another 5-10 years for us to become a competitive team again," Anjila stated. "Our team bonding is strong, and while we don’t view this as revenge, it is a crucial chance for us."
The final is set to kick off on Wednesday at 6:30 PM, with Nepal facing off against the former champions, Bangladesh. Despite having reached the finals in five of the last six editions of the tournament, Nepal has yet to secure the title, with their last encounter against Bangladesh ending in a 3-1 defeat in the 2022 final.
Captain Anjila acknowledged past losses but highlighted the unity of the current squad.
"Those results are in the past. We are united and ready to perform well," she said.
