The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has today announced that Sportdigital will be their new media partner broadcasting select AFC national team and club competitions from 2021-24 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Sportdigital’s deal covers the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2022 and 2024, all AFC’s men’s youth competitions, the AFC Cup as well as all Futsal men’s national team and club competitions.
As an established, dedicated pay-TV football broadcaster, Sportdigital will make AFC football competitions available via their linear Sportdigital channel and digital outlets.
Dato’ Windsor John, the AFC General Secretary, said: “We are pleased with this new partnership in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and thank Sportdigital for the confidence they have shown in the future of Asian football. We look forward to football fans in those countries witnessing some memorable matches as the game in Asia moves into a new and exciting era.”
Gisbert Wundram, Managing Director of Sportdigital Fussball, said:
"We are very pleased to cooperate with the AFC via Football Marketing Asia. With the AFC competitions, we can offer our viewers a comprehensive range of live football, especially during the week in the late mornings and afternoons. Our package with the AFC includes well over 150 live matches per season across multiple national team and club competitions and runs for at least four years until 2024, giving us plenty of planning security.
“In this way, we are once again comprehensively expanding our already very broad live football portfolio and can offer our viewers live football from Asia also during the week, true to our claim "Football around the World". With the AFC competitions we have one of the widest and strongest live football offers on German television with a huge number of live matches.”
Patrick Murphy, Board Member and CEO at Football Marketing Asia, said: “We are delighted to bring in Sportdigital as our valued media partner in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This partnership is the third in Europe, which reaffirms our vision to bring the best of Asian football to more markets beyond the continent. We are confident that Sportdigital will further strengthen the presence of high-quality Asian football with its top-notch services.”
