The much anticipated Barca Nepal Weekend Futsal League officially started with National Team striker Bharat Khawas inaugurating the first of its kind league tournament.

The tournament, which consists of 6 teams will be played every summer weekend and was put forward as a solution to busy weekend futsal organization and mismanagement of players. The matches now will be held at White Horse Futsal, Sukedhara, where Bharat Khawas kicked off the tournament in style.

The opening day saw three matches getting contested: The Gandaki Wolves edged past Karnali Fishers in the opening fixture by a margin of 6 goals to 4. A hattrick by Sajeev Badal, a brace by Pujan Khatri and a goal by Prabin Tamang was too good for The Fishers, who had Manoj Gautam scoring a brace and Anil Sapkota and Ayam Baral getting a goal each. The Wolves played on a 3-2 lead at halftime, thanks to astounding 11th, 19th and 20th minute individual efforts from Sajiv Badal.

The second fixture was contested between Bagmati Bulls and Rapti Rhinos. Like the opener, this too became a thriller as The Bulls just got home with a scoreline of five goals to four. With braces from Shiva Shrestha and Anup Karki, the Bulls had another scorer in the name of Santosh Chaudhari. The Rhinos somehow managed to pull some goals back but simply wasn't enough to outclass the Bulls. Bijay Khadka and Abhiskar Bikran Rai scored one each for the team while Nima Dorje Ghalan got a brace within the full time.

The third fixture lived up to its hype as Koshi Tigers beat Narayani Lions with a scoreline of 7 goals to 4. Sanjiv Dahal scored a hattrick for The Tigers with him scoring on the 15th, 16th and 21st minute of the match. Captain Sailesh Dahal netted two while Abishek Ranjit and Anil Bhujel got one goal each to complete the 7 goals tally for Koshi Tigers. Narayani Lions saw captain Dinesh Kattel score at the 10 minute mark, Suman Lama scoring at the second minute and Manjil Raut scoring two at the 9th and 22nd minute.

Koshi Tigers top the league table on goal difference at the end of game week one , followed by Gandaki Wolves and Bagmati Bulls. Rapti Rhinos, Narayani Lions and Karnali Fishers are yet to open the points tally.

The second gameweek will see Rapti Rhinos taking on the Karnali Fishers, Naraying Lions locking horns with Gandaki Wolves and Koshi Tigers challenging Bagmati Bulls.
