Despite rainfall, more than 2000 spectators turned up in the opening match of 4th Mai Valley gold cup football tournament at Thulo Tundikhel on Thursday.

Hosts Mai Valley FC defeated visitors Kaski XI 3-2 in the opening match.

The organizers, Mai Valley FC has thanked football loving people for coming to watch the match in adverse condition.

“We are thankful to all football fans. We are very much sure that they will support us throughout the tournament”, said Mai Valley football club president Dhiren Chemjong.

The organizers collected an impressive Nrs 100k gate receipt on the first day.

Team from Bangladesh is playing against Nepal APF in today's match.

The championship has a winning purse of NRs 6,66,666.
