Pro licensed Belgian coach Patrick Wilde has made a strong statement regarding the current state of football coaching and management in Nepal, stating that Nepali coaches are still lagging far behind in scientific training methods.

Speaking after Nepal's recent outing in the qualifiers, Coach Wilde criticized the traditional approach still prevalent in Nepali football. He revealed that his assistant coach during the qualifiers was unfamiliar with essential modern tools like computers and data analytics.

“It’s 2025 and coaches still don’t know how to utilize data? That’s unacceptable,” Wilde said bluntly. “If we want to improve the game in Nepal, we must move past the traditional mindset.”

Wilde also emphasized the importance of modern training tools and player care.

He pointed out the lack of basic scientific support in the national team’s setup, such as GPS trackers for performance monitoring, ice therapy for recovery, proper rehabilitation practices, and comfortable accommodations for players during camps.

“These are not luxuries, they are necessities in modern football,” he added. “Without them, you're simply not giving your players the environment they need to succeed.”
