Bharatpur Mayor's Cup Inter School Football League started in Bharatpur, Chitwan.

The League has started under the organization of Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality and the main sponsorship of Central College.

In the opening match of the league which started today (Friday), Step by Step and Om Shanti Academy shared the points with a goalless draw. Both teams were forced to share points after wasting some opportunities.

There will be no matches in the league on Saturday. There will be two matches on Sunday. On Sunday, Dhadaghari Mavi and Gaurigunj Mavi will meet in Group A. The match will be played at Krishnapur ground at 4:30 PM.

At the same time, Greenland Public School and Siddharth Mavi of Group B will face each other. The match will be played at Amar Mavi Patihani. The league, which is co-hosted by the Chitwan District Football Association, will run until the 19th of June.

24 schools including 12 community schools and 12 institutional schools are participating in the competition. The 24 participating schools have been divided into six groups.

All group teams will compete against each other on home and away basis. The best four schools among the group winners from the six groups will directly enter the quarterfinals. The remaining two group winners and six group runners-up will enter eight teams in the pre-quarterfinals.

Inaugurating the Asia Beach League, Metropolitan Chief Renu Dahal expressed her belief that this league will help in the production of national players. Dahal said that daily sports competitions have confirmed that Bharatpur is becoming a sports hub.
