In the sixth edition of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup, which started in Qatar, the host and the home team Qatar has made a winning start.

In Group A, Qatar beat Indonesia 2-0 in their first match and got off to a winning start.

In the next match of the same group, Australia and Jordan played a goalless draw and shared the points. In the second match of the group stage, Qatar will face Jordan on April 18, while Australia and Indonesia will also face each other on the same day.

A total of 16 teams participating in the competition have been divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group will enter the knockout stage. Saudi Arabia is the defending champion of the tournament.

The top three teams of this competition will be directly selected for the Olympics to be held in France. Similarly, the team that gets the fourth place will have to play the playoffs.
