14th Itahari Gold Cup International Invitational Knockout Football Tournament, which started on Saturday night, the previous winner, Sagarmatha Youth Club, Morang has started with a win.
Sagarmatha got off to a winning start by defeating APF Football Club, Kathmandu 3-1 in the opening match at Itahari Stadium.
In the victory of Sagarmatha, Bimal Gharti Magar scored two goals and one more goal was scored by Stephen Binong. Anish Maharjan scored the only goal for the defeated APF.
Bimal Gharti Magar of Everest who scored two goals in the match was declared Man of the Match. With this win, Sagarmatha has also entered the semi-finals.
The second quarter-final match on Sunday, Chaitra 11, will be held between Rashtriya Jagriti Club, Itahari and Kanchenjunga Football Club, India, the organizers informed.
The winner of the inaugural competition, organized by Rastriya Jagriti Club, Itahari, will receive 10 lakhs in cash along with the title, while the runner-up will receive 5 lakhs. The final match will be held on the 17th of Chaitra.
