In the 18th edition of the AFC Asian Cup, which started in Doha, Qatar, which is also the defending champion, has made a winning start.

Qatar, in Group A, recorded an impressive 3-0 win against Lebanon in their first match.

In the match at Lusail Stadium, Akram Afif scored two goals for Qatar in the 45th minute and towards the end. Another goal was scored by star forward Almoz Ali in the 56th minute.

A total of 24 participating teams have been divided into 6 groups.

The top two teams from each group will enter the knockout stage. Similarly, the best four teams that will get the third place will also enter the knockout stage.

The tournament will conclude on February 10 at Lusail Stadium.
