Sankata Club has entered the semi-finals of the 1st Birgunj Gold Cup International Invitational Knockout Football Tournament with an easy win.
In the second quarter-final held at Adarshnagar Stadium on Sunday, Sankata managed to secure a place in the semi-finals by defeating Church Boys United by 4 goals against zero. Fode Fofana scored two goals for Sankata, while captain Ganesh Hamal and Samir Rai scored one goal each.
Fode Fofana of Sankata was elected the man of the match. He received 10,000 cash and a trophy as an award. The organizers informed that the third quarter final match on Monday, 20th of Kartik will be played between Nepal Police Football Club and Clive House Dum-Dum, Kolkata, India.
The winner of the competition organized by Vetran City Club, Birganj and the main sponsor of Birganj Metropolitan Corporation will receive a cash prize of Rs 11,11,111 and the runner-up will receive Rs 5,55,555.
The final match will be held on the 25th of Kartik.
