News Nepal Suffer 2-0 Defeat Against A Superior Oman Side

Nepal have suffered a defeat against Oman in the first unofficial friendly of Qatar stay ahead of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers next week. Nepal lost 2-0 against Oman in the friendly played at the Suheim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha.

Omar Al-Maliki opened the scoring in the second minute of first-half stoppage time which was doubled by Issam Al-Subhi towards the end of the match.

In the friendly played behind closed doors, Nepal lost against a team that was ranked significantly higher. Oman are ranked 75th in the world while Nepal are ranked 168th.

Nepal had played two draws before this match. Nepal played a 2-2 draw against Timor-Leste followed by a 1-1 draw against Sri Lanka. A newly shaped Nepali side is without the players who left the camp last month citing various disagreements with the head coach Abdullah Almutairi.

In the qualifiers, Nepal is scheduled to face Jordan on June 8, Kuwait on June 11 and Indonesia on June 14. Kuwait will host the matches of this group.
