News Why Would Weekend Matches In A Division League Be A Game Changer?

We know what it's like to wait for games on weekends with bated breath to watch our favorite teams battle it out as fans of European football and football around the world.

And this time, with ANFA's announcement that league games will be played on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, this can be detrimental in shaping the Nepali football season in a different way, and it can be pivotal in taking it to the next level moving forward.

Saturdays -Sundays together, on the other hand, are not national holidays in Nepal, as they are in many other countries. It could, however, play a significant role in attracting more fans to the league season.

Saturdays can be crowded in the stadiums, with ticket prices as low as Rs. 100 for the matches. With four stadiums in the Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Pokhara areas to host matches, more fans will be able to attend, resulting in increased excitement and involvement.

Nepalese football fans have always screamed and complained about the lack of a long league season. The lack of regular football was heavily blamed for the player's national team performances and lack of fitness.

Players will get enough rest in between matches due to the long season schedule, which includes games on three days of the week. They'll also need to be physically fit enough to play a full season of competitive football. As a result, clubs will need to take extra care with their players, and having an extensive squad will be a huge advantage.

This time around, ANFA has increased the squad limit to 50 players. We may not have enough players to fill 14 teams in the top division, but we have many young talent ready to make their marks in Nepali football. Rotation and player fitness will also be important considerations for the coaches.

The main goal should be to avoid burning out players early in the league and then having them sit out the rest of the tournament. ANFA has also decided to impose the five substitution rule this time. So, squad rotation and resting players will be significant. With two relegation spots down below, this is shaping up to be an exciting football season.

However, if ANFA were to be more ambitious, a new flavor of a cup tournament would add more spice to the football season, in addition to a long league season.

The prestigious knockout tournaments in England and Spain, the FA Cup and Copa Del Rey, are approached differently by teams and fans.

ANFA, however, said that they would stop the league for a month to accommodate Golds cups.

With league games taking place on weekends, the addition of a knockout tournament will be spectacular.

This is only the beginning in an ever-changing world of football. However, this isn't the first time the games have been restricted to specific days of the week.

League matches were held on Saturdays and Sundays in 2052. ANFA was unable to implement that strategy moving forward. Still, with its reintroduction this time, it is hoped to be implemented with more teams, a more extended season, and other additions to the football calendar. We Nepalese football fans have been yearning for a long football season in our country.

And with the new approach taken by ANFA and top-tier clubs, the Nepali football scene will hopefully be the start of something spectacular.
