Nepal is playing final against India after 28 years. Nepal had defeated India on penalties to win the title of SAF Games in 1993 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Afte 28 years, Nepal has finally found India in the final of any tournament.
Nepal is locking horns against India today in the final match of SAFF Championship tonight at 8:45 PM NST.
Nepal have never won the title whereas India have clinched the title for record 7th times.
Here are the players to watch:
Aayush Ghalan (Nepal)
With the suspension of Anjan Bista, Nepal would be looking for options in their
squad to field in place of him. With the suspension, the responsibility will be more on
the young shoulders of Ayush Ghalan, who has scored a goal thus far in this
tournament and looked lively in the game against Bangladesh. Aayush, with his left
foot, can get away from defenders and feed balls into the box while himself getting
into goal scoring positions. He came close to scoring on numerous occasions against
Bangladesh but was left frustrated thanks to great reflexes from the Bangladesh GK.
Sunil Chhetri (India)
This name is now being talked about in the whole world, and rightly so. With his
brace in the decider against the Maldives, he has now reached to 79 international
goals become the 6th highest goalscorer in international football just one shy of the
Argentine sensation, Lionel Messi. His record speaks for itself. His instincts to be in
the correct position at the right time and finishing into the back of the net have
bailed India out numerous times, including earlier in the tournament against Nepal.
If Nepal can neutralize his presence, they will have great chances of getting their
first-ever SAFF Championship trophy.
