The Period of (2000-2009) was quite forgettable period for the national team as the team played dull and Lackluster football and despite many attempts to raise the standard of football. The team couldn’t really make a dent in international football.

2016 was definitely the peak year of the National team as the team alongside winning silverware also went the whole year unbeaten. Nepal then made a notable difference in the 2019 AFC Asian cup qualification although the team only got to participate because of the Guam national team pulling out of the tournament. The Nepali team earned two very impressive draws against two much stronger Philippines and Yemen team at home.

Nepal was eventually knocked out of the tournament after defeats to Tajikistan and both Philippines and Yemen in the away draw.
