Gorkha Municipality, Gorkha and Byas Municipality, Tanahu have marched into the semifinals of on-going Province 4 Level First Mayor Cup.

In the first quarterfinal match played at Bangechaur ground, Baglung on Thursday, Gorkha Municipality defeated Devchuli Municipality, Nawalpur 3-1.

Gorkha took an early lead in the 9th minute through Jamir Maskey. But Suman Ale leveled the score in the 25th minute for Devchuli. Sudip Basnet provided lead to Gorkha in the 33rd minute. Saroj Shrestha extended the lead in the 72nd minute.

In the second quarterfinal match, Byas Municipality ousted organizers Baglung Municipality 4-2.

Anjan Pradhan scored the opener in the 9th minute. Two minutes later, he doubled the lead. Ajay Shrestha netted in the 28th minute to triple the tally. Pramal Thapa reduced the deficit in the 50th minute. Adarsha Chand scored for Byas in the 50th minute to make the scoreline 4-1. Pramal Thapa again scored for Baglung in the 58th minute but his goals were not enough to help his team from the loss.

Beni Municipality, Myagdi got walkover after Gaidakot Municipality, Nawalpur didn't turn up at the match venue.

On Friday, Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolis will meet Kusma Municipality and Waling Municipality, Syangja will face Beni Municipality.

11 municipalities are participating in the knock-out championship, which has a winning purse of Rs 2,22,222.

Runners-up team will receive Rs.1,11,111. MVP will get Rs.10,000.

The best players in each category and the best coach of the tournament will be awarded with Rs.5,000 each.
