Nepal To Compete In Round 1 Qualification For FIFA World Cup Qualifiers 2026

FIFA and AFC have announced the roadmap for 48-team FIFA World Cup 2026, which is jointly hosted by USA, Canada & Mexico.

As per the roadmap, Nepal needs to play round 1 qualification.

Nepal is ranked 36th in AFC Ranking.   Teams ranked 26-47 needs to play FIFA/AFC preliminary joint qualification round 1 (Home & Away). AFC will reveal the fixtures later.

If Nepal wins the round 1 qualifiers, they will play round 2 qualifiers in a group.

48-teams world cup

Eight teams from Asia will directly qualify to the 2026 world cup. Addition one spot will be determined from inter continental qualifiers. Alltogether 48 teams will take part in the world cup.
