With no Nepal Super League in sight, Nepalese players including some Nepal internationals are playing local tournaments in Northeast India.

Nepal Super League, a lucrative franchise based league, was supposed to kick off in March early this year. But due to protest from A Division league sides, the football governing body couldn't decide the fate of the championship.

It was said that the event would kick off in September which is not likely, for sure.

Players are now frustrated.

They are pouring their frustration over social media sites. Some players, say more than 100 Nepalese players including Nepal internationals, are playing local tournaments in North East India to earn money.

This is 'khep'. You get minimum NRs 8000 to Nrs 20,000 per match depending on the nature of the tournaments. Some Nepal internationals have reached Arunachal state as well.

"Some players are in Zorethang, some are in Gorubathan. Some of them are in Sikkim and some of them are in Arunachal. This is the peak season for 'khep' players. They earn more than NRs 1 to 2 lakh this season that lasts till the end of August", one senior player, who didn't want to be named, told GoalNepal.

If NSL was organized on a scheduled date, these players would have been busy playing here. Playing abroad for money may be good for the players but one serious injury after playing khep-by-khep can end their career early.
