National sports council 16th national women's league got underway on Sunday at ANFA complex, Satdobato, Lalitpur.
Nepal Police club and Far Western have won their respective matches in the opening day.
NPC women's team defeated central region 6-2 in the opener. Nirmala BK scored four goals alone while Amrita Jaisi and Ghim Kumari Gurung scored apiece for the winners. Sabita Rana Magar and Mithila Kuswar scored apiece for the losing side.
In the second match, Far western defeated Eastern region 4-0.
Chandra Bhandari and Sirsha Karki scored brace each for the winners.
Earlier Minister for youth and sports Rajan KC inaugurated the championship.
Nepal Army will meet Western region and Nepal APF will meet Mid Western in Monday's matches.
ANFA is managing the tournament.
