Province 1 8th Birat Gold Cup Kicking Off Today

The eighth edition of the Birat Gold Cup is kicking off today in Biratnagar.

Bhutan's Royal Thimphu FC (RTC) and departmental team Nepal Police Club are playing in the opening match of the night football tournament.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Gold Cup Trust Chairman Kishor Bahadur Shahi informed that all the preparations for the competition have been completed.

According to him, the competition will start at 6:30 pm. The winner of the tournament with 10 teams participating will receive 11 lakh and the runner-up team will receive a shield with 550 thousand in cash.

In group 'A' of the competition, home team Sangrila Morang FA, Royal Thimphu FC of Bhutan, Nepal Police Club, Armed Police Force team FC and Shahid Memorial 'A' Division League winners Church Boys United. Group 'B' has India's Sikkim Dragons, Southern Samiti Kolkata, Tribhuvan Army Football Club, New Road Team & Machindra Football Club.

The Gold Cup, which has been organized under the name of Mahendra Gold Cup since 2018 B.S, was changed to Birat Gold Cup from 2068 B.S.

According to the trust, it will cost 1 crore 18 lakh 43 thousand rupees to conduct the competition which will be conducted till 24th of Chaitra.
