A makeshift team of Kathmandu XI has entered semifinals of 2nd Madi gold cup football tournament in Chitwan.

Kathmandu XI defeated FC Mundial, Hetauda 5-3 on penalties on Tuesday to enter semifinals.

Both teams played 0-0 draw in a regulation time before going to a spot kick battle.

Goalie Akash Ranabhat became the player of the match and received Nrs 3,000 cash.

On Wednesday, hosts Madi XI will play against Bharatpur FC in the first semifinal match.

Basantapur United FC, Chitwan is organizing the championship at Madi from Magh 3, 2077.

Eight teams are taking part in the event, which has a winning purse of NRs 2 lakh. Runners up team will get NRs 1 lakh.
