The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) on Friday announced the suspension of a "A" international friendly match between Harimau Malaya and Nepal, which was scheduled at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil on 26 March 2019.
The Malaysia FA said date for the friendly match will be confirmed later.Despite knowing the guidelines of the International Football Federation (FIFA) which only allows two matches on the FIFA international game window, in an effort to improve our world ranking, FAM had tried to appeal to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and FIFA to approve the third match against Nepal on March 26, 2019.
AFC had approved the game, but on March 7, 2019, FIFA had informed FAM that the extra match was not approved as an "A" international friendly match.
In honor of FIFA's decision, the FAM and Nepalese Football Association (ANFA) have agreed to postpone the match to a new date during the upcoming FIFA international tournament window to enable both countries to enjoy the opportunity to score points for the world ranking.
Malaysia is ranked 167th while Nepal is ranked 161 in the FIFA ranking
Note that Nepal will play against Kuwait in a friendly match on March 21.
