Jhapa media cup football tournament got underway at Arjundhara ward number 11 ground on Thursday.

Bibechana daily, Sunrise, Jana Samsad, Loktantra and Mero Radio have won their respective matches in the opening day.

Bibechana defeated Aamsanchar 2-0 in the opening match. Dipesh Magar became the man of the match.

Sunrise FM defeated Saptarangi FM in sudden death to enter second round. Janasamsad/Loktantra defeated Mechi Times daily 1-0 to enter semifinals.

Mero Radio and Yalamber Times defeated National Media group 6-0.

The championship has a winning purse of Rs 31,000 while runners up team will get Rs 15,000.
