Dhankuta, May 17 – LX City FC, Belbari, Morang has secured a dramatic spot in the final of the 12th Gorkha RARA Gold Cup football tournament, currently underway at Rajarani, Dhankuta.

In a thrilling second semifinal match held on Saturday, LX City FC edged past Church Boys United (CBU) in a tense penalty shootout, winning in sudden death after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.

Church Boys United appeared poised for victory after Samir Tamang netted a brace. However, in the dying moments of the match, LX City was awarded a crucial spot-kick. Chirring Gurung kept his cool and converted the penalty to level the scoreline, forcing the game into a shootout.

The shootout proved decisive, and in a twist of fate, CBU’s hero Tamang missed his kick in sudden death, handing LX City the ticket to the final thanks to a goal from Chirring Gurung. LX City's goalkeeper, Bibek Magar, delivered an outstanding performance and was deservedly named the Player of the Match.

The final showdown between LX City FC and Birtamod United FC is scheduled for Sunday. The tournament champions will walk away with a cash prize of NRs 7 lakh.
