Preparations for the Bhadrapur Jhapa Gold Cup Gambhir Rai Memorial Edition International Invitational Knockout Football Tournament, have been completed.

The organizers of Bhadrapur Jhapa Gold Cup have announced that preparations for the tournament have been completed by holding a press conference at the Mechi Stadium. A magnificent ground has been built to make the Gold Cup, which will be held from Falgun 7, excellent, grand and sophisticated.

Permanent concrete and temporary bamboo parapets have been constructed to accommodate about 20,000 spectators. Reception gates have been constructed in preparation for the competition. In this edition of Bhadrapur Jhapa Gold Cup, the home team Bhadrapur Blazers, along with ‘A’ Division Club Church Boys United, Machhindra Football Club, Nepal Police Club, New Road Team, Armed Police Force APF FC and Jhapa 11 FC will participate.

Three foreign teams Darjeeling Police FC India, Transport United FC Bhutan, and Bazaar Pragati Sangh Bangladesh will participate in the Gold Cup, including 10 teams. The winner of the Gold Cup final to be held on Falgun 16 will receive Rs 1.3 million in cash and the runner-up Rs 0.7 million in cash, a trophy and a medal. It is estimated that the cost of completing the Gold Cup will be Rs 17.8 million.

The best player of the tournament will receive Rs 105,000 in cash. Similarly, the best goalkeeper, top scorer, emerging player and coach will receive Rs 25,000 in cash. The player of the match of each game will be given Rs 21,000 in cash.

The tournament will be inaugurated by former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, National Assembly member Krishna Prasad Sitaula, informed Gold Cup Chairman Dipesh Dhakal. The ticket price for the quarter-finals in the competition is Rs 200, for the semi-finals Rs 300 and for the final Rs 300 for bamboo parapets and Rs 500 for concrete parapets, informed General Secretary Jeevan Kumar Shrestha.

Bhadrapur Municipality Patron and Jhapa District Sports Development Committee are the coordinators of the competition. At the press conference, Bhadrapur Mayor Ganesh Pokharel, Gold Cup Chief Advisor Tika Raj Dhakal, President Dipesh Dhakal, and General Secretary Jeevan Kumar Shrestha answered questions.
