Birgunj United Club and Bengkhadi Youth Club have entered the quarterfinals of the third Lhosar Cup Open Knockout Football Tournament here at Lal, Nijgadh.

In the first match held at the Buddhachowk Football Ground on Saturday, Birgunj defeated Altoki Club 4-1. Sagar Chaudhary scored two goals for Birgunj, while Bipin Magar and Bibek Chaudhary scored one goal each. Surendra Chaudhary scored the only goal for Altoki. Sagar Chaudhary of Birgunj was declared the Man of the Match in the match.

Similarly, in the second match, Bengkhadi defeated New Himal Youth Club by a margin of 1 goal against zero. Sudip Ale scored the only decisive goal in Bengkhadi's victory. Manish Thapa Magar of Bengkhadi was declared the Man of the Match.

The first match under the tournament on Sunday, Magh 6, will be between Makawanpur-11 and Nijgadh Youth Club, while the second match will be between Everest Academy and Young Star United Club.

The winner of the competition, organized by Young Star United Club, Nijgadh-10, Lal, Bara, will receive a cash prize of Rs 2,02,202 along with the title, while the runner-up will receive a trophy, medal and certificate along with Rs 1,01,101. The final match will be held on Magh 12.
