Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Madhyapur Thimi Municipality have entered the semi-finals of the first Valley Inter Municipal Open Mayor's Cup Football Tournament held in Godavari.

Madhyapur defeated Kirtipur Municipality by 5-4 in the quarterfinal match held at Jhyaluntar Ground of Godavari Multi-Purpose Stadium and booked their ticket to the last four.

While Deepak Basan scored 2 goals for Madhyapur, captain Yaman Rajabahak, Rohan Khadgi and Sudarshan Shrestha scored one goal each. Deepak Basan was also declared the man of the match. He received 5,000 cash and a trophy as an award.

In the last quarterfinal held on Saturday, Kathmandu Metropolitan City managed to secure the semi-final spot by defeating the B team of Godavari Municipality by 2-1.

Raj Paudel scored both goals for Kathmandu. Rajan Maharjan scored a goal for the defeated Godavari. Raj Poudel, who scored two goals for Kathmandu in the match, was declared the man of the match. He also received 5 thousand in cash and a trophy.

Both semi-final games on Tuesday

With the completion of the quarter final matches, the semi final matches have been completed. The first semi-final will be held between Kathmandu Mahanagara and Madhyapur Thimi on Tuesday 25th Baisakh at 12:30 noon. Similarly, the second semi-final match will be played between Chandragiri Municipality and Mahalakshmi Municipality at 3:30 PM.

The winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of 5 lakhs along with the title, while the runner-up will receive 3 lakhs. Similarly, 50,000 rupees will be awarded to the disciplined team and 25,000 rupees to the best goalkeeper, defender, forward, all-round scorer and best coach.
