Hosts Adarsh Youth Club has started with a win in the 3rd Adarsh Challenge Cup football tournament in Budhashanti, Jhapa. The hosts secured their place in the semi-finals after defeating Dhrubatara Sporting Club of Damak by 2-1.

Captain Pujan Thapa scored the first goal for the hosts in the 17th minute of the game. Thapa, who was unmarked in the D-box on a cross pass given by Roman Bhujel, directed the goal towards the post.

In the 70th minute of the game, Pradeep Budhathoki of the host team doubled the lead by playing a single from the middle of the field. When the opposition players were beaten, Budhathoki scored a beautiful goal to ensure the victory of the host.

Dhrubatara's Sanjay Dhimal scored a consolation goal in the injury time of the game, but it was not enough for victory.

Pujan Thapa, the first goal scorer of the host Adarsh Yuva Club, was declared the man of the match. He received a cash prize of three thousand rupees.

Birtamod United FC will compete against North Bengal FC of India in tomorrow's match. Eight teams from Nepal and India are participating in the competition.

The second edition of the competition, which started in 2070, was held in 2071.

The winner of the competition will get 2 lakh cash, runner-up will get 1 lakh trophy and medal. The best goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, forwards and budding players of the final match will also get a prize of Rs 5,000.
