Defending champions Machchindra Football Club and New Road Team (NRT) are going to compete for the title of the ongoing KP Oli Cup National Football Tournament.
Defending champions Machhindra and NRT defeated their opponents in the semi-final held at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar on Thursday and set up a title clash.
The title clash between these two will take place on Saturday.
NRT won easily by 3-0 against another top division club, Jawalakhel Youth. Sanjeev Bista scored two goals and Vivek Gurung scored one goal in NRT's victory. Machindra defeated the Indian club Manebhanjang Football Club 5-0 to confirm the meeting with NRT.
Bimal Ghartimagar, Stephen Samir Binong, Hisub Thapalia, Devendra Tamang and Ayush Ghalan scored in Machchindra's victory.
Before that, NRT took the lead at the beginning of the game. NRT got the lead with Bivek's goal within five minutes. Randeep Poudel's cross ball was hit by the net of the post in the first touch. But no more goals could be scored in the first half. NRT was leading 1-0 in the first half. However, NRT shined in the second half. NRT added a second goal shortly after the start of the second half.
Sanjeev Bista, a member of the Nepali national team, doubled the lead by scoring in the 50th minute. Sanjeev made good use of Richard Williams' through pass. In the process, he beat Jawalakhel's defender Sunil Khadka and goalkeeper Younes Chaudhary and stole the net.
Seven minutes later, Sanjeev scored his second personal goal. His shot from outside the penalty box hit the net. After that, despite some efforts from both sides, no more goals could be scored. Earlier, NRT defeated Three Star 1-0 and Jawalakhel defeated host KP Oli FC 2-1 to reach the semi-finals.
In the second semi-final, Machindra easily dominated the visiting team. In the 26th minute of the game, Bimal scored an excellent goal through a free kick and gave Machindra the lead. Two minutes later, Stephen doubled Machindra's lead.
Hisub scored in the 37th minute. With that, Machindra took an easy lead in the first half. Machindra added two goals in the second half and the visiting team was forced to leave. Devendra scored in the 54th minute and Machindra went ahead 4-0.
He headed Utsav Rai's corner ball into the net. After that, the visiting team stopped Machindra for some time. However, Ayush scored in the injury time and gave Machindra a 5-0 victory.
