News Mechinagar Municipality Enters Knockout Stage As A Group Winner

In first Inter-Municipal District League and Knockout Football Tournament held in Bhadrapur of Jhapa, Mechinagar Municipality has entered the knockout stage as the winner.

Mechinagar became the winner of Group C with 9 clear points after defeating Kachankawal Village Palkia in today's match. Kachankawal has been eliminated from the league stage after losing to Mechinagar by 3-0.

Mechinagar became the only team to win all three matches of the league stage. Mechinagar's Niraj Karki scored in the sixth and 16th minutes of the match. Likewise, Sandesh Khawas scored a goal in the 61st minute. Karki, who was the player of the match, received two thousand in cash and a trophy.

Meanwhile, Bhadrapur municipality won the second and last match of the league stage of Group C held today. With the win, Bhadrapur has also entered the knockout stage by becoming the group runner-up.

Even though they only played a draw with Bahradashi Rural Municipality, Bhadrapur's score to enter the knockout stage was in a mathematical situation. With the defeat, Bahradashi has returned home from the league stage.

Bhadrapur defeated Bahradashi by 2-0 goal difference. Udesh Kamati of Bhadrapur scored a goal in the 32nd minute of the match. Likewise, Niwang Limbu scored a goal in the 56th minute of the game.

Kamati of Bhadrapur, who was the player of the match, received two thousand in cash and a trophy. Gold Cup President Dipesh Dhakal, Koshi State Assembly Member Mohan Maharjan, former State Assembly Member Vasant Baniyan, Courtesy Pramila Ojha, Kiran Sharma presented the player of the match award for both the matches today.

General Secretary Jeevan Kumar Shrestha informed that the final match of the tournament, which was organized with the aim of producing young players from Jhapa, the fertile land of football, will be held on November 24.

According to the schedule, Haldibari, Birtamod and Buddhashanti are in Group A. Kankai, Bhadrapur Blazers, Jhapa and Gauradah are in Group 'B', Kachankawal, Bahardashi, Mechinagar and Bhadrapur are in Group 'C' and Kamal, Damak, Shivasatakshi and Arjundhara are in Group 'D'.

The winner and runner-up of each group will enter the eight-team knockout stage. The knockout stage matches will start from the quarter finals. The quarter-final matches will be held on Mangsir 19 and 20. The semi-final match will be held on Mangsir 22.

The winner of the competition will get cash 3 lakh, trophy, medal and certificate, while the runner-up will get cash 2 lakh, trophy, medal and certificate.

The player of the match of each game will get Rs 2,000 in cash. Similarly, the best goal keeper, best coach, top scorer and budding player will receive cash of Rs 5,000, trophy and medal. It is estimated that 80 lakh rupees will be spent to complete the competition.
