Prestigious Birat gold cup football tournament got underway at Sahid Maidan, Biratnagar on Friday.

Biratnagar city FC defeated Nepal Police Club 1-0 in the opening match. Aashish Shrestha scored the match winning goal in 120' of extra time.

Utsav Rai became the player of the match.

Tribhuwan Army FC will play against Jawalakhel youth club on Saturday.

Eight teams are taking part in the event, which is organized by Birat gold cup trust.

The champions will get NRS 20 lakh.
