News Hetauda Veterans Cup Gets Underway

The eighth edition of the National Veterans Cup at A Side Football Tournament has started in Hetauda from Tuesday under the organization of Hetauda Veterans Club. There were four matches on the first day.

Simara, Jorpati, Hetauda 'A' and ABC Veterans Pokhara made winning starts on Tuesday. In the first match, Simara defeated Pashupati Veterans of Hetauda 2-1. Madan Shrestha scored the opening goal for Pashupati. Purna Lama and Sonukumar Khatri scored for Simara. Simra's Sonukumar Khatri was declared the man of the match.

In the second match, Jorpati Veterans won by defeating East Chitwan Veterans 5-0. While Ramesh Gurung scored a hat-trick for Jorpati, Bhesraj Limbu and Sagar Thapa scored one goal each. Hat-trick scorer Gurung was the man of the match. In the third match held on Tuesday, the 'A' team of the host Hetauda Veterans won by defeating Gorkha Veterans Sarlahi 1-0. The goal scored by Hetauda's Gajendra Lama was decisive. He was the man of the match.

ABC Veterans Pokhara won by defeating Chitwan Veterans in a tiebreaker in the last match. The decision was made through a tiebreaker after the tie was tied at the scheduled time. 

ABC saved Chitwan's one shot in the tiebreaker. Goalkeeper Khem Bahadur Gurung was Man of the Match.

The competition, which will be held until the 23rd, was inaugurated by the Mayor of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan, Mina Kumari Lama. Mayor Lama said that the sub-metropolitan office is in the campaign of building 'one ward, one playground'.

Chairman of Hetaunda Veterans Ramesh Kumar Upreti and coordinator of the competition Rajkumar Shrestha organized the event, member secretary of Bagmati Province Sports Development Council Suryalal Bhandari, Chairman of Makwanpur District Sports Development Committee Bhesh Khadki, Makwanpur District Football Association President Tikaram Lama and others were guests.

The winners of the competition will receive a cash prize of Rs. 1,11,111 along with the title, while the runners-up will receive Rs. 55,555. Similarly, the organizers informed that attractive prizes have also been arranged for the individual category.
