Urjan Shrestha, head coach of the Nepal National U-17 Team, has stated that the team's goal is to win the SAFF U-17 Championship in Sri Lanka. Shrestha said the team will compete for the championship during the press conference on Sunday before the competition.

"Nepal wants to take the trophy home. Before this, we were in second place. The squad is ready this time around. It's been excellent", head coach Urjan Shrestha remarked. "The players are also good."

Urjan is certain that Nepal will succeed because the nation has made excellent preparations for the competition. "Our planning is going really nicely. One and a half months have passed since the start of preparations. We also had the chance to train for a few days in Sri Lanka. We had a chance to learn about the ground conditions", he continued.

Coach Urjan added that the competing teams' skill levels were similar. "All the teams have put forth a lot of effort, and it appears all teams are at the same level," he added. "Bhutan and India have good grassroots structures, but all the teams are equally equipped."

The SAFF U-17 Men's Championship will start on Monday in Sri Lanka. Six teams, Sri Lanka, India, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Maldives, are participating in the tournament, along with Nepal.

Nepal is in Group 'B'. India and Bhutan are in Nepal's group. Nepal will compete against Bhutan on September 7. Similarly, Nepal will play India in the second match on September 9.

Group 'A' consists of hosts Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bangladesh. The top two teams in the group will qualify for the semi-finals. The final will be held on September 14.
