News PREVIEW: Kuwait vs Nepal, AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers

Nepal will take on hosts Kuwait tomorrow night in the second group match of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers final round. The sides will take the field on June 11, 10:00 PM NST at the Jaber al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait City, Kuwait. 

Nepal lost the first match 2-0 to Jordan despite a resilient performance at the back. Goalkeeper Deep Karki delivered a monstrous performance but the team had to suffer defeat.

Kuwait will be looking to bounce back after a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Indonesia in the first match.

Nepal is currently ranked 168th in the latest FIFA rankings while Kuwait are superior to Nepal with the latest FIFA rankings keeping them at 146.

Team news: 

Four new faces in Bikash Tamang, Nir Kumar Rai, Shiva Gurung and Roshan Rana Magar have been called up for the first time for these qualifiers. Bikash Tamang made his debut against Jordan alongside goalkeeper Deep Karki. After the performance against Jordan, Nepal's starting XI is expected to be unchanged.

Recent results:

Nepal’s recent series of matches were unofficial friendlies in Doha where Nepal played a 2-2 draw against Timor-Leste, a 1-1 draw against Sri Lanka and a 2-0 loss over Oman before the 2-0 loss to Jordan in the first group match.

Kuwait suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Indonesia 2-1 in the first group match on Wednesday. Before than, Kuwait defeated Singapore 2-0 in a friendly played in preparations for the qualifiers.

Nepal and Kuwait were also in the same group of the second round of qualifiers as well where Nepal lost both matches; 7-0 and 1-0 back in 2019.

There have been no official confirmations about broadcasting in Nepal. However, Kuwait TV app will broadcast the match live. The match can also be watched live on KTV Sport channel on Kuwait TV's website.
