In the Madan Memorial Football Tournament held at the historic Atharai Madan Mela on Friday, CTEVT Technical College, Mela Organizing Committee and Grameen Vikas Yuva Samaj Khamlalung emerged victorious.

In the first match, Technical College defeated Atharai-1, Lisibung 2-1. Hari Limbu and Gomal Limbu scored goals for the winning team while Sagar Tamang scored a consolation goal for Lisibung.

In the second match, the organizing committee of the fair defeated Shrijang Rai Papo Samaj, Hwaku 2-1. Tashi Lama scored two goals for the hosts while Mitra Ingnam scored one goal for Hwaku.

Similarly, Khamlalung won the last match of the men's side and entered the second round. Khamlalung defeated Maula Danda Sporting Club, Hwaku 2-0. Sandesh Limbu and Yuvraj Lavung scored the goals.

The winner of the 18-team competition will get Rs 135,000 in cash while the runner-up will have to settle for Rs 75,000 in cash.

Hosts Victorious In The Female Category

Similarly, the women's team of the organizing committee has made a victorious start in the women's football tournament which started today.

The organizing team defeated Langhali Club Ewa-4, Atharai 2-0 in the match held at Trimohan Ma.Vi. ground. Captain Suja Sherpa and Manita Limbu scored for the organizers.

Eight women's teams are participating in the competition. The winner of the competition will get Rs 65,000 in cash and the runner-up will get Rs 40,000 in cash, according to the organizers.
