
Bagmati Youth Club has qualified for the semifinals of the fifth Chief Minister Sudurpaschim Khaptad Gold Cup football tournament with a victory over A Division League champions Machhindra FC today in Dhangadhi. Bagmati, who played the C Division League qualifiers last time stunned the country's champions 4-2 in a tiebreaker to make it into the final four.
The regulation time of ninety minutes ended goalless and the match was sent to penalties. In the shootout, Bagmati's Aman Shrestha, Iman Ghalan, Dady Wamba Jr. and Anil Rana scored their spot-kicks while Diwas Limbu's penalty was stopped by Bishal Shrestha.
For Machhindra, Ranjit Dhimal and Bimal Gharti Magar scored while Bishal Rai and Nuren Karim missed their kicks.
Bagmati will now face Friends Club in the semifinals. The winners of the tournament will receive 21 lakhs rupees and the runners-up will receive 10 lakhs rupees.
