ANFA Former FIFA Assistant Referee Kiran Giri DISHEARTENED By ANFA

Former FIFA referee Kiran Giri organized a press meet in Kathmandu on Saturday to express his dissatisfaction against ANFA.

Why? What’s the issue

?

Giri – under the invitation from FIFA – travelled to Bangkok, Thailand to take part in FIFA Futuro III course. He was denied to board bus arranged by football association of Thailand at airport saying that his name wasn’t listed. He waited there at Airport for 7 hours after talking to ANFA spokesperson Kiran Rai who assured him of a letter from ANFA. But ANFA didn’t send letter to him citing separate decision was already made regarding the issue.

Giri – who is labeled anti against current ANFA leadership - returned home without taking part in the course and organized press meet on Saturday to express his views.

Giri says,

“I was invited by FIFA for the course. The invitation was also sent to email id of ANFA’s referee department. ANFA officials knew about my invitation but they didn’t reply to FIFA. FIFA then wrote us individually (Him & Kalpana Sharma). ANFA officials later intervened and asked FIFA, AFC & FAT not to include me in the course. I came to know about this when I landed Bangkok. Even ANFA president Karma Tsering Sherpa wished me luck that day when I flew to Bangkok.

I feel disheartened. I have contributed to Nepalese football for more than 25 years. I have felt sheer humiliation.

What ANFA says?

ANFA’s spokesperson Kiran Rai revealed that the FA was unaware about the invitation for Kiran Giri and Kalpana Sharma.

“We haven’t received any official Invitation from FIFA in our email handle. When we came to know it was done individually, we wrote to FIFA and informed about the issue. FIFA then asked us to nominate fresh names. We nominated Laba Khatri, Sailesh Joshi and Balram Thapa. Four VPS were there when FA made the decision.
Khatri and Joshi went to Bangkok to take part in the course but Thapa couldn’t make it due to passport issue.

“We have now formed a committee under VP Upendra Man Singh to investigate who communicated with FIFA with unauthorized email id”.

Giri laughed at the response made by spokesperson Rai.

“ANFA used to communicate with FIFA with (Gmail id made by referee department). All ANFA officials knew invitation sent by FIFA. I don’t have anything to say if they say they haven’t received invitation from FIFA".

ANFA will now discuss about the issue further once president Karma Tsering Sherpa and general secretary Indraman Tuladhar return from Japan. Sherpa and Tuladhar have gone to Japan on Saturday.

It is worthy to mention that there are two factions at ANFA referee department.

The source close to ANFA told GoalNepal that the FA was planning to scuffle referee committee.
