Jumanu Rai scooped Player Of The Year Award in NSJF Sports Award on Thursday in Nepal but he was dejected in Maldives.

He and his colleague Santosh Sahukhala couldn't save his team from going to relegation zone. AYL lost to Valencia by 3-2 in an important match. Interestingly, Jumanu Rai had scored for AYL.

Jameel, Tom scored for Valencia but Jumanu Rai cut the deficit in 33rd minute. His stunning shot was also denied by Valencia goalie. Muhaimin leveled the score for AYL but Tom scored the winner. AYL could have saved the match had they utilized the penalty kick awarded in the wee hours.

"I am very happy to get Player Of The year Award in Nepal", Rai from Maldives said, "It could have been far better had we saved the day for AYL".

Rai also thanked everyone who supported and encouraged him throughout the year. "I am thankful to everyone", Rai added, "Player of the year award means a lot to me".

Jumanu was chosen most popular player of the year a year ago.
