Silly mistakes, low fitness level, improper communication between the players, lack of confidence are the points that could justify Nepal's bitter 1-2 loss to Maldives in Nehru Cup match played at JLN Stadium, New Delhi, India on Thursday.
When the clock had just struck 6th minutes and few seconds, Abdhullah hadn't had thought that he would write his name in scoresheet. Thanks to Nepalese team goalie, Ritesh Thapa, who spilled the ball from his arm, giving a chance to Abdhullah to score from an open space inside the box.
Another silly mistake in the second half, after Rupesh KC, who made his debut, miss passed the ball to Ali Ashfaq who simply passed the ball to the unmarked winger in the right and another debut man from Maldives Esad Ismail recorded a history by scoring the goal in the debut match.
2-0 was too much for energy-less Gokhalis, who couldn't web goal scoring moves in the Maldives' den.
Coach Krishna Thapa opted 4-4-2 formation with Bharat Khawas and Santosh Sahukhal upfront. Bhola Silwal, Bijaya Gurung, Raju Tamang and Sandip Rai had taken their command in midfield line but all of them were losing in the park.
Defenders had problem in making proper communication with goalie Ritesh Thapa but distrinctly seen Rohit Chand made some eye catching tackles that denied Nepal conceding more goals.

At the dying minutes, Jumanu Rai scored a consolation goal for Nepal utilizing a pass off Santosh Sahukhala.
Earlier, Anil Gurung, Jumanu Rai and Nirajan Khadka were dropped from the first eleven of the team. Coach substituted Jagjeet Shrestha in but he didn't think of fielding strikers; Anil Gurung or Sujal Shrestha in the match.
This was the 14th time that Gorkhalis and Red Snappers met in International football. Nepal have won just three and lost seven matches. Four matches have been drawn.
Nepal will now play next against strong Cameroon on August 26.
