When Nepal National team head coach Krishna Thapa was watching his charges kicking the ball on the pitch from the stands on the very first day of National camp for Nehru Cup, he smartly noticed that the boys were struggling to kick the ball with their normal boots on a soggy field.
ANFA President, Ganesh Thapa - who was present at the FIFA Technical Centre to watch the team training - was the right man to whom coach Thapa demanded stud football boots for the players.
"We must provide stud football boots to the players because we are going to play in international tournament in rainy season. The monsoon is active in Delhi (tournament venue) throughout the August. I have asked president to provide them special boots. Players definitely need studs football boots as to prevent them from slipping on the pitch", Thapa told GoalNepal.com.
Studs are protrusions on the sole of a shoe, or on an external attachment to a shoe, that provide additional traction on a soft or slippery surface, studs on the bottom to assist in gripping the surface, preventing sliding and assisting in rapid changes of direction.
ANFA president Thapa also nodded on the plea of coach Thapa and asked VP Lalit Krishna Shrestha to see the possibility of providing studs to the players.
Nepal National team has started training from Sunday for up-coming Nehru Cup starting from 22nd of August in New Delhi at JN Stadium.
Nepal, Kenya, Maldives, Syria and Cameroon and hosts India are competing in the tournament which is going to be held in the AIFF's 75th anniversary year.
