AFC U-14 festival kicked off at ANFA Complex, Satdobato on Saturday morning.

 


Chief guest Finance Minister Barsa man Pun inaugurated the festival. AFC VP and ANFA President Ganesh Thapa, NSC member Secretary Yubraj Lama, AFC U-14 football festival project manager John Whittle were also present in the opening ceremony.

Inaugurating the youth football festival, chief guest Finance Minister Barsa man Pun said, "I am thankful to AFC for granting this authority to ANFA for hosting the youth football festival in Nepal. Football is popular in Nepal and I have seen many football programs being held in the country. On behalf of Nepal government, I would like to assure you all that the government will seperate necessary budget to the sports sector in this year's budget".

AFC VP and ANFA President Ganesh Thapa thanked AFC for the opportunity provided to them for hosting the event here in Nepal.

NSC member Secretary Yubraj Lama was excited to see the participants in the festival and asked players to learn more from the festival.

The AFC U-14 football festival project manager John Whittle also wished the players good luck for the future.



Students from different schools were present at the Academy to support Nepal U-14.
 
Each participating country is divided into two groups i.e Team A and Team B. Nepal, India, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are participating in the festival. The football festival will be played in two formats; 30 minutes and 60 minutes. All the players in the team must play in the field. The players of the team also need to appear in the skills test.




Nepal U-14 A played Bangladesh U-14 A in the opening match of the festival. In the first day of the festival, eight matches each of thirty minutes were played. On the second day, thirty minutes - eight matches will be played while there will be skill tests on the third day. There will be sixty minutes match between the participating countries ( without dividing into two groups, Team A and team B) on the fourth day and fifth day.
