Nepal National Team: Deepak Rai & Bijaya Gurung Are Excluded From The Squad For Not Turning Up
Aug 31, 2011 01:41:23 PM

Nepal National Team Coach, Graham Roberts has exclusively told that those who haven’t turned up for the training camp were already excluded from the squad.

Roberts revealed that he was furious to see players not responding the repeated calls for the camp.

“Deepak Rai (Yeti Himalayan Sherpa Club) and Bijaya Gurung (LH MMC) didn’t turn up”, Roberts said, “They are not going to make their place in the squad”.

What about Shiva Shrestha who didn’t turn up?

“Shiva has personally called me up and said he was under course for British Army. That is a different case”, Roberts added.

This is  the first second time that Roberts has excluded player from the squad. Roberts had earlier expelled star striker, Santosh Sahukhala for reporting late just ahead of Timor Leste match in FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.

Meanwhile, Coach Roberts said that there are some new faces in the team.

“Raju Katuwal (Nepal Police Club) and Raju Yogi (GK of NRT) are the new faces” Roberts added.

Why new goalkeeper when there are already four GK’s in the team?

“There is no harm of inviting players for the training. I want young goalkeepers. He (Yogi) can secure his place if he works hard and impresses us”, Roberts added.

Nepal has started training for up-coming SAFF Championship scheduled in December in India.
